General Information

For the homeowner to qualify for a full warranty on the system, the service provider must inspect and maintain the system. Additionally, the service provider must provide mandatory maintenance and service reports every 6 months to the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) during the first 2 years of installation. After the initial 2 years, the service provider must offer the homeowner an extended service contract. The homeowner has the right to refuse this contract, but if refused, the homeowner must either have an approved service provider maintain their system or obtain a homeowner certification approved by LDH.

A homeowner is allowed to make minor repairs for their mechanical treatment plant (MTP) located at and servicing their primary residence by obtaining a homeowner certification. For information on obtaining a homeowner certification, please contact your LDH Regional Sanitarian Director at (337) 475-3237.
