First time home buyers searching for information about banking, realtors, insurance and the process involved in buying a home can find answers during special evening classes hosted by the Calcasieu Parish Housing Counseling Agency. Anyone who has not owned a home in the past three years is considered a first time home buyer even if they owned a home previously. These Homebuyers / Financial Education Classes cover topics such as down payments and closing costs, applying for grants and additional subjects with an emphasis on walking through the process of buying a home step by step.
The registration deadline for the evening classes is August 7, 2013. Residents can register at www.cppj.net/housingcounseling, and also obtain more information on upcoming classes. Classes are free to all attendees regardless of income. Anyone needing special accommodations, one-on-one counseling or additional information can contact the Housing Department at 337-721-4030.
