THE POLICE JURORS
Police Jurors: 15 Jurors are elected to serve 15 single-member districts covering the entire parish.
Term of office: 4 Years
Beginning of current term: January, 2024
Salary: $1,600 per month
Officers: President and Vice-President are elected annually in January and may not succeed themselves.
POLICE JURY MEETINGS
Meeting location: Police Jury Meeting Room, Calcasieu Parish Government Building.
- 1015 Pithon St., Lake Charles, LA (corner of Gill and Pithon streets).
- First floor
Meeting schedule: Two regular meetings each month usually on the first and third Thursdays.
Meeting Agendas
All agenda items for regular meetings shall be submitted to the Administrator's office no later than noon on the Friday prior to said regular meeting. Action on recommendations of the Parish Planning and Zoning Board relative to zoning cases are typically considered at the second regular meeting.

OPEN MEETINGS
Public policy for open meetings; liberal construction:
A. It is essential to the maintenance of a democratic society that public business be performed in an open and public manner and that the citizens be advised of and aware of the performance of public officials and the deliberations and decisions that go into the making of public policy. Toward this end, the provisions of this chapter shall be construed liberally.
