The Division of FInance is responsible for the control of all financial activities of the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury and its component units. The department provides comprehensive financial management, accounting, and reporting services; prepares the parish’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report; prepares the annual budget; provides overall risk management and debt management services for the parish and manages the parish’s surplus property program. Finance also performs payroll functions and organizes purchasing/procurement services for all parish departments and Special Service Districts under the direction of the Purchasing Agent.
Certificate of Achievement
The Finance Division has received its 35th consecutive Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the National Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its 2023 report. A Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting is valid for a period of one year.
The parish strives to maintain this award on an ongoing basis. In order to be awarded a Certificate of Achievement, the parish publishes an easily readable and efficiently organized Annual Comprehensive Financial Report. This report satisfies accounting principles generally accepted in the United States, applicable legal requirements and certain criteria established by the GFOA.
