Planning is under way for GIS Day 2009, which will be held on November 18 of this year!

The National Geographic Society has sponsored Geography Awareness Week since 1987 to promote geographic literacy in schools, communities, and organizations,
with a focus on the education of children.

GIS Day is held on the Wednesday during Geography Awareness Week. GIS demos that will involve middle school aged kids include web mapping application design, cartography, and Geography related educational content.
