Prien Lake Park is just one of 11 tobacco-free Calcasieu Parish parks celebrating “Smell the flowers, not the smoke” by hosting an extra Movie Under the Stars event, Friday, March 3rd. Our “Tobacco and Vapor Free” signs are to remind residents of the new tobacco-free ordinance passed by the Police Jury in November 2016, effective March 1, 2017. The ordinance makes all Parish parks and buildings smoke and tobacco-free: including e-cigarettes and chewing tobacco.
You’re invited to bring your family and friends for a night as fun as a roomful of puppies; 99 puppies to be exact! Watch as two determined Dalmatians, Pongo and Perdita, save 99 pups from one of the greatest movie villains of all time, Cruella De Vil, in the Disney classic “101 Dalmatians.” You’re also invited to pet and take photos with Calcasieu’s sweetest puppies from our Animal Services and Adoption Center.
The puppy photos begin at 4pm, Friday, March 3rd and the movie begins at 6:30pm in Prien Lake Park, located at 3700 West Prien Lake Road in Lake Charles. Bring your picnic blankets and chairs early to claim a good spot! Admission is free and residents may snack on free popcorn provided by the Louisiana Campaign for Tobacco-Free Living, bring their own food or purchase tasty treats on-site. In case of inclement weather, the event will be canceled.
