The Workforce Development Board is scheduled to meet noon- 1 p.m. Thursday, June 29, at the Business & Career Solutions Center, located at 2424 Third Street in Lake Charles.

 The Workforce Development Board (WDB) serves the six-parish area and is responsible for overseeing business in connection with the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA), which was signed into law by President Obama on July 22, 2014.  The law provides assistance to adults, youth, and dislocated workers with their needs to obtain their first jobs, new jobs, or better jobs. Funds are available for classroom training, apprenticeship training as well as on-the-job training. Other services such as supportive services are provided based upon need and the availability of funds.
