Enjoy family-friendly Friday nights at Prien Lake Park this month at “Movies Under the Stars.”
On Friday, Oct. 13 (Friday the 13th), the whole family can watch a movie about some GOOD LUCK - against all odds - at the showing of "Secretariat."
Based on the novel by William Nack, the movie is about the journey of the 1973 Triple Crown winner, who made it to the top against all odds. Housewife Penny Chenery (Diane Lane) takes over Meadow Stables for her ailing father - despite her lack of horse-racing knowledge. With the help of veteran trainer Lucien Laurin (John Malkovich), Chenery helps guide Secretariat into winning the first Triple Crown in 25 years (Rated PG).

Oct. 20 – Prien Lake Park: “The Secret Life of Pets.” If you ever wondered what your pets do all day when you’re at work or school, then this animated comedy is for you. See what happens when Max's life as a pampered pooch is turned upside down when his owner brings home a stray named Duke (Rated PG). At this movie, the Calcasieu Parish Animal Services and Adoption Center will have adoptable pets on hand for residents to meet and greet.
Oct. 27 – Prien Lake Park: “Hocus Pocus.” In this Halloween classic, three witches (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy), who were executed in Salem 300 years ago, vow to reappear on a future Halloween to wreak havoc on the town - and do whatever is necessary to gain immortality (Rated PG).
Movies start at sundown - about 8 p.m. at Prien Lake Park, 3700 West Prien Lake Road. Make sure to get there early to get a good seat.
Residents are encouraged to bring their own blankets and lawn chairs. Residents can also bring their own food., but no alcoholic beverages are allowed. Pets are allowed but they must be on leashes. Pet owners must also clean up after their pets.
Movies will be canceled in the event of inclement weather.
