(CANCELED) MOVIES UNDER THE STARS: 'The Secret Life of Pets'

Not only can you see a 'doggone' great movie this Friday, but you'll also have the chance to meet some adorable, adoptable pets from Calcasieu Parish Animal Services.

"Movies Under the Stars" continues on Friday, Oct. 20 at Prien Lake Park with "the Secret Life of Pets."

If you ever wondered what your pets do all day when you’re at work or school, then this animated comedy is for you. See what happens when Max's life as a pampered pooch is turned upside down when his owner brings home a stray named Duke (Rated PG).

At this movie, the Calcasieu Parish Animal Services and Adoption Center will have adoptable pets on-site for movie-goers to meet and greet.

Residents are encouraged to bring their own blankets and lawn chairs. Residents can also bring their own food, but no alcoholic beverages are allowed. Pets are allowed, but they must be on leashes. Pet owners must also clean up after their pets.

The movie starts at sundown - about 8 p.m. at Prien Lake Park, 3700 West Prien Lake Road. Make sure to get there early to get a good seat. The movie will be canceled in the event of inclement weather.

Also, make plans to attend the final Movies Under the Stars event for this fall - "Hocus Pocus" on Friday, Oct. 27 at Prien Lake Park. In  this Halloween classic, three witches (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy), who were executed in Salem 300 years ago, vow to reappear on a future Halloween to wreak havoc on the town - and do whatever is necessary to gain immortality (Rated PG).
