The Calcasieu Parish Parks and Recreation Department will celebrate Parks and Recreation Month on Friday, July 19, at Prien Lake Park with a special “Movies Under the Stars” events feature – “Field of Dreams.”

The 1989 classic, starring Kevin Costner and James Earl Jones, tells the story about an Iowa corn farmer, Ray Kinsella (Costner), who begins hearing voices whispering to him in the fields. He eventually interprets them as a command to plow his fields and build a baseball diamond. Soon, ghosts - metaphorical and literal – surface that make Ray believe in the importance of second chances and following your dreams (Rated PG).

The movie will begin at sundown- close to 8 p.m. - but get there early to get a good seat. It will be canceled in the event of inclement weather. Bring your blankets, chairs and picnic baskets full of goodies and enjoy the show!
