What is it like to be homeless? You can find out during the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury’s Human Services Department interactive homeless simulation, which will be held Thursday July 25 at the Allen P. August Annex Building, 2000 Moeling St., Lake Charles.
There will be two, three-hour sessions – one from 9 a.m.-noon and another from 1 p.m.- 4 p.m.
Each simulation will be followed by a community discussion about how and why people become homeless and how poverty stands in the way of self-sufficiency.
In 2018, there were close to 200 documented homeless residents in Calcasieu Parish.
The homeless simulation is free but you must pre-register. To do so, call 337- 721-4030.
