The American Job Center encourages job seekers and employers to take part in the Winter Quarterly Job Fair, which will take place from 9 a.m. - noon, Wednesday, Jan. 8, in the Lake Charles Civic Center’s Exhibition Hall, 900 Lakeshore Drive.
Job seekers are strongly encouraged to wear business attire and to bring a picture ID and several copies of their current resume. Make sure to arrive early to ensure the opportunity to meet with employers.
The American Job Center also needs employers to take part in the job fair. To register, contact the American Job Center at 337-721-4010, ext. 5029. Deadline to register is Friday, Jan. 3. There is no cost for employers to participate.
Veterans, who will be given priority services, are asked to arrive at 8:30 a.m. for exclusive access to employers until 9 a.m.
For those who want help preparing for the job fair, there will be a Job Readiness Workshop at 9 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 3, at the Allen P. August Multipurpose Annex, 2000 Moeling St., in Lake Charles. Participants will learn the dos and don’ts of looking for a job, programs and services to assist in job searches, interview tips and information on available job opportunities.
Pre-registration is requested for the workshop, but not for the job fair.
The American Job Center serves Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu Cameron, Jefferson Davis and Vernon parishes.
The job fair is sponsored by the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, in conjunction with the Workforce Development Board and the Louisiana Workforce Commission. It is funded by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.
