E-Recycle Day

  • Date: 03/14/2020 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM

If you want to get rid of any old electronics, CITGO's annual E-Recycle Day, scheduled for Saturday, March 14, is the time to do it.

Volunteers will be accepting residential e-waste including TVs, computers, cellphones, and light bulbs from 8 a.m. - 11 a.m, in the McNeese Cowboy Stadium parking lot.

Electronic items accepted include computers, monitors, computer accessories, printers, fax machines, keyboards, photocopiers, TVs, VCRs, stereos, home and office phones, mobile phones, and consumer electronics

Mercury items accepted include thermostats and thermometers containing metallic or liquid mercury, lamps (florescent, high intensity discharge, neon, mercury vapor, high pressure sodium and metal halide).

Items that are not accepted include smoke detectors, fire alarms, dehumidifiers, large appliances (refrigerators), medical equipment, any units containing sludge or liquids.

Each year, tens of thousands of “e-waste” items such as these are thrown away. These items not only contain recyclable material, but they can be hazardous if disposed of with regular garbage.

Other event partners are Waste Management, Keep Calcasieu Beautiful, Team Green, the City of Lake Charles and McNeese State University.
