The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury’s Division of Engineering and Public Works and Calcasieu Parish Regional Watershed Management will host the fourth – and final -- virtual session of the webinar series, “Let’s Talk Drainage,” on Tuesday, Sept. 13.
The overall purpose of this series is to describe the various elements that contribute to the current flooding vulnerabilities in Calcasieu Parish, explain various mitigation strategies and associated costs, and develop an overall process to mitigate these vulnerabilities within acceptable limits.
This final session will be held from 9:30 a.m.-11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 13. It will focus on projects that will help watershed management and floodplain protection.
This session will feature the following speakers: Terry Frelot, Assistant Director of the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury’s Division of Engineering and Public Works; Ehab Meselhe, River-Coastal Science and Engineering professor at Tulane University and Jeanne Arceneaux Hornsby, Director of Engineering for C.H. Fenstermaker and Associates.
“No single structural mitigation strategy will solve flooding across Calcasieu Parish,” Frelot said. “However, flood mitigation can be achieved using multiple non-structural and mitigation strategies.”
