Youth Education and Training Opportunity Fair

Young people ages 16-24 are invited to participate in the American Job Center’s Youth Education and Training Opportunity Fair, which will take place from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m., Saturday, May 14, at the American Job Center, 3434, Third St., Lake Charles.

The goal of the event is to connect the area’s young people with employment and education opportunities. They can learn about employment opportunities, on-the-job training, and tuition assistance, as well as training needed for Class A commercial driver’s licenses, certified medical assistants, HVAC, pipefitting, non-destructive testing and more.

Several local employers will be on-hand to interview and accept applications for full-time, part-time, and summer employment. Representatives from local university, college and post-secondary schools will also be present to answer questions concerning specific curricula that will qualify them for jobs in high-demand occupations.

Those who plan to attend should come dressed in business attire for interviews and they should bring copies of their resumes.

The Youth Training Fair is sponsored by the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, Workforce Development Board (WDB), the Louisiana Workforce Commission and funded by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).
