'The Zone'

  • Date: 02/13/2024 11:30 AM - 2:30 PM

The Zone,” a family-friendly, alcohol-and-tobacco-free area targeted for families with children and teens, is back again for Mardi Gras.

Now in its 15th year, The Zone will be open from 11:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 13, located right on the parade route - in the parking lot between the Charleston Building and the Parish Courthouse on Ryan Street.

“We highly recommend stopping by The Zone on the parade route,” said Office of Juvenile Justice Services Director Anthony Celestine. “It serves as a designated ‘Safe Spot’ for families with young children and teenagers seeking a family-friendly atmosphere to be able to fully enjoy the Mardi Gras festivities.”

The event is free to the public.

The area will have plenty of kid-friendly games including a live DJ, photo booth, Bayou Games Truck, laser tag, a bounce house, obstacle course, train ride, and activities in the activity tent. There will be plenty of hot dogs, popcorn, soft drinks, and snow cones for kids to enjoy.
