Quarterly Job Fair

Are you unemployed? Are you wanting to make a career change? Are you an employer looking for employees? If so, the American Job Center – Region V encourages you to take part in the Quarterly Job Fair, which will take place from 9:30 a.m.- noon, Wednesday, Oct. 9 in the Lake Charles Event Center’s Buccaneer Room, 900 Lakeshore Drive.

Close to 50 employers are expected to take part in the job fair, which is a great opportunity for employers to meet face-to-face with job seekers and conduct on-site interviews.

Veterans, who will be given priority services, are asked to arrive at 9 a.m. for exclusive access to employers until 9:30 a.m.

Job seekers are strongly encouraged to wear business attire and to bring a picture ID and several copies of their current resume. The Louisiana Workforce Commission’s Mobile Workforce Center will be onsite to aid with resume writing, job search and online applications, skills assessments and more.  Arrive early to make sure you get the opportunity to meet with employers. Pre-registration is not required.

The American Job Center also needs employers to take part in the job fair. There is no cost for employers to participate but pre-registration is required. Go to calcasieu.gov/registerjobfair to register.

The Region V American Job Center serves Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, Jefferson Davis and Vernon parishes. The job fair is sponsored by the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, in conjunction with the Workforce Development Board and the Louisiana Workforce Commission. It is funded by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.

For more information about the job fair, contact the American Job Center at 337-721-4010 or email business@lwia51.com.
