Southwest Louisiana District Senior Games is a sports program designed to promote physical fitness and active involvement for individuals 50 yrs and older and to encourage all older individuals to improve the quality of their lives by being physically active, which promotes wellness awareness and an active involvement in life.
You do not have to be an experienced athlete to join the excitement of meeting new and interesting people and competing in any sport or recreational event offered. As an individual, you will compete against other seniors in your age group.
Athletes can compete in over 50 sports at the District level. To compete in the Louisiana Senior Olympic Games (LSOG), you must qualify in a District Game. All Districts are sanctioned by the State of Louisiana. The qualifying games for the State are: Discus, Shot Put, Javelin, Golf (medal), Horseshoes (advanced), Table Tennis (singles), Shuffleboard (advanced), Bowling (singles) and Dance Competition.
Games are open to all U.S. citizens who are 50 yrs and over by December 31 of each competing year. (Out of District participants also win medals). Age groups for competitions are: 50-54, 55-59, etc.
