Enjoy Movies in the Park at Movies Under the Stars

Movies Under the Stars SpotlightCalcasieu residents are invited to enjoy four movies at Prien Lake Park when Movies Under the Stars returns to light up the silver screen outdoors. The spring season kicks off Friday, April 1st and continues through Friday, April 22nd.

This April, Movies Under the Stars features the Easter Bunny’s son, a peek inside a little girls mind, some fast talking woodland creatures and a lost dinosaur searching for his family.

April 1st – (Canceled due to wet conditions at the park.) Opening night sweeps us to the city of dreams, Hollywood, as seen through the eyes of E.B., the Easter Bunny’s son. E.B. is determined to be a rock star but will he be able to outrun his destiny back on Easter Island in “Hop?”

April 8th – Joy and Sadness get lost inside a little girl’s long term memory, leaving Fear, Disgust and Anger hilariously running the show when her family moves to a new city. Laugh and cry along with all of her emotions as they sort out strange new things like broccoli on pizza and hockey tryouts in the Oscar award winner, “Inside Out.”

April 15th – Grizzly bear, Boog, and Mule Deer, Elliot, must track down a werewolf on the loose to get open season closed again in “Open Season: Scared Silly.”

April 22nd –  (Canceled due to wet conditions at the park.) Get ready for epic adventure in “The Good Dinosaur.” In this version of history the dinosaurs were not wiped out 65 million years ago. When Arlo, an apotosaurus, gets separated from his family a small cave boy befriends Arlo on his quest to reunite with his loved ones.

Each movie begins at dusk around 7:00 p.m. at Prien Lake Park, located at 3700 West Prien Lake Road in Lake Charles. Admission is free to the public. Patrons may bring their own food or they can purchase tasty treats on-site from Tikiz Gulf Coast and Mr. Gatti’s Pizza. Residents are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair. In case of inclement weather, the event will be canceled.
