Parish Plans Debris Removal This Week

Post Date:04/04/2016
Calcasieu Parish Public Works crews will begin removing debris from flood-affected homes near the Sabine River this week. Residents are asked to bring all flood debris to the roadside for pickup and contact the parish to make sure their address is on the list of homes with debris.

The number to call is 337-721-3700 and residents are encouraged to call whether or not they have placed the debris on the roadside.

Residents should not wait for FEMA or insurance representatives to inspect the damage before bringing debris to the roadside. They are encouraged to take photographs and document the damaged items.

Residents should sort the flood debris in the following manner for pickup:

• Construction Debris (furniture, mattresses, carpets, lumber, drywall)
• Hazardous Materials (oils, batteries, pesticides, paints)
• White Goods (refrigerators, washers, dryers, stoves, water heaters, dishwashers)
• Electronics (televisions, computers, etc.)

Household perishable garbage will not be picked up with flood debris.

Parish officials intend to complete debris removal by April 30, 2016.
