Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LiHEAP) Phone Lines to Open Feb. 5

Calcasieu Parish residents can make an appointment to apply for financial assistance for their electricity and gas utility expenses starting Monday, Feb. 5. The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LiHEAP) benefited nearly 8,200 people in 2016 – 2017.

Applications will be looked at on a first-come, first-served basis and residents must schedule an appointment with a representative in order to apply for assistance. LiHEAP is based on a resident’s total income, and priority is given to residents over 60 years of age, households with children under 5 years of age, and those residents with disabilities.

Beginning Feb. 5, interested residents can call 337-721-4033 from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Scheduled appointments will be given in the following communities on these specified days and times:

 

Lake Charles

Sulphur

9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

9 a.m. – 11:40 a.m.

Monday – Thursday

First and third Thursdays of each month

DeQuincy

Westlake

9 a.m. – 11:40 a.m.

9 a.m. – 11:40 a.m.

First and third Tuesdays of each month

Third Monday of each month

Vinton

Iowa

9 a.m. – 11:40 a.m.

9 a.m. – 11:40 a.m.

Second Tuesday of each month

Fourth Thursday of each month

Starks

Bell City

9 a.m. – 11:40 a.m.
