Budget Committee Reviews Proposed 2025 Budget

The Police Jury will vote to approve budget on Dec. 19

Post Date:11/21/2024

The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Budget Committee received the proposed 2025 budget at its Nov. 21 meeting.

Parish Administrator Bryan Beam told Jurors the budget expenditures in the proposed 2025 budget total $351 million, down by 1.8 percent from 2024.

The operating portion of the budget increased by 6.7 percent, or $6.9 million, due to wage adjustments and an increase in contract services costs.

Major capital projects for 2025 include the Ham Reid Road Extension Phase 2 (which will include a roundabout at Big Lake Road), the Carlyss Drive Extension from Wright Road to LA 27, John Stine Road and and Sampson Street intersection improvements, and design work for Opelousas Street reconstruction. Several bridge repairs and replacements are also slated.

The public comment period on the 2025 proposed budget is until Dec. 19. The Budget Committee will hold a public hearing at its next meeting at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5. Final approval is planned for Dec. 19 at the Police Jury's Regular Meeting.
