Mr. Smith and his wife, Tricia, have four sons - Kyndall, Michael II, Bradford, and Xavier - and four grandchildren.

A graduate of Washington-Marion High School and the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now ULL), he is the owner/agent of Big Mike Bail Bonds and Consulting in Lake Charles.

Mr. Smith is an active member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church, the North Lake Charles Kiwanis, and the Washington-Marion Alumni Association. He has also served as a volunteer baseball and basketball coach.

In his spare time, Mr. Smith enjoys spending time with family and friends whenever possible. He also enjoys ATV riding and mudding, watching sports, mentoring young people, and golfing.
