Mosquito Pool from Eastern Calcasieu Parish Tests Positive for Eastern Equine Encephalitis
Calcasieu Parish Mosquito Control received confirmation from the state that one of the mosquito pools from Eastern Calcasieu Parish - collections of mosquitoes from different areas in the parish - has tested positive for the Eastern Equine Encephalitis – or EEE.

Police Jury Staff Fights Giant Salvinia in Holbrook Park Pond

OHSEP, Parish Team to Begin Flooding Damage Assessments
In the wake of the flooding caused by Hurricane Barry, the Calcasieu Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness and the Parish Damage Assessment Team will begin doing visual, drive-by inspections of impacted areas in Calcasieu Parish.

Portion of Calcasieu River, English Bayou Now Closed Due to Excessive Flooding
Due to the excessive rainfall caused by Hurricane Barry, the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness has issued an Emergency Declaration to close a portion of the Calcasieu River and the English Bayou, effective immediately.
