Ambulance Permits

The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (OHSEP) has been given authority to promulgate reasonable rules and procedures as may be necessary to enforce the regulation of ambulance service.
Acadian Ambulance vanThe Police Jury established a quality assurance review panel to provide advisory assistance to the OHSEP for enforcement of this ordinance. The members who serve on this panel represent the communications district, board-certified emergency room physicians, emergency nurses, fire services and law enforcement. No person on the panel can be affiliated with any ambulance service provider operating in the Parish.

The quality assurance review panel has the following general responsibilities:

1. For quality assurance, review on a periodic basis the medical protocols utilized by ambulance service providers, and review protocols on a random basis as determined by the OHSEP.
2. Upon request of the OHSEP, provide advisory assistance on compliance matters and complaints filed regarding ambulance service provision within the Parish.
