Homebuyers / Financial Educational classes are offered to all interested home buyers and owners. If you are having problems with credit, budget, finance - or just need information - then this is the course for you.

Our home class reviews all the fundamentals of home ownership, including the pros and cons of purchasing a home; the roles of realtors; mortgage originators; mortgage underwriters and attorneys; mortgage underwriting criteria; financial management and budgeting needs; and general mortgage-related terminology.

Classes are free to all attendees regardless of income. Participants will receive a certificate when successfully completing classes. Please note that the Police Jury does not give out grants or down payment assistance, but many programs and lenders that do will require you to take a HUD-approved housing counseling class.

• Monday, April 22: 5-9 p.m., hosted by Project Build a Future
• Tuesday, April 23: 5-9 p.m., hosted by Project Build a Future
• Monday, June 10: 5-9 p.m., hosted by Project Build a Future
• Tuesday, June 11: 5-9 p.m., hosted by Project Build a Future
• Saturday, Aug. 17: 9 a.m.-5 p.m., hosted by Calcasieu Parish Police Jury
• Monday, Oct. 21: 5-9 p.m., hosted by Project Build a Future
• Tuesday, Oct. 22: 5-9 p.m., hosted by Project Build a Future

• Saturday, Nov. 16: 9 a.m.-5 p.m., hosted by Calcasieu Parish Police Jury.

All classes are held at 2001 Moeling St. in Lake Charles
