The primary mission for the department is to create and maintain a collaboration of member agencies and organizations that are concerned for the plight of the homeless in our area. This is done by developing and maintaining a system of coordination-and- information-sharing among service providers to create programs and projects that deliver services to end homelessness in Region V. Region V is comprised of five parishes: Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, and Jefferson Davis.

To accomplish this mission, the department administers three programs: the Coordinated Entry Program, in partnership with the Louisiana Balance of State.  Through the Coordinated Entry Program, the Department works with a variety of agencies to assist with the coordination of services.  The department also sponsors an Access Center located at 2001 Moeling Street in Lake Charles.  The Access Center is a centralized and coordinated assessment center designed to coordinate program participant intake assessment and provision for referrals.  The center is well advertised and easily accessed by individuals and families seeking housing or services and includes a comprehensive and standardized assessment tool.
