Stephanie Seemion is the Workforce Development Board Director at the American Job Center/WDB-Calcasieu Consortium Area 51 which includes Calcasieu, Cameron, Allen, Vernon, Beauregard, and Jeff Davis parishes. stephanie seemion WIOA director

PERSONAL: A native of Basile, LA, Seemion has been married to Gary Seemion for more than 43 years. They have two daughters, Sierra and Shauna, and one grandson, Darian. Seemion is an active member of New Covenant Faith Baptist Church and serves on the Collegiate/ Scholarship Committee.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor of Science Degree  in Criminal Justice from University of Southwestern Louisiana with a Minor in English. 

She has also received various Professional Development certificates and Continuing Education Units.

ACTIVITIES AND HONORS

With full focus on reaching and exceeding all goals set before her in her current position, she still makes time to stay current in her field. It continues to be a priority for her to establish and keep close ties to the community through volunteer efforts as well as being active in community improvement efforts.

She also served as the President and Vice President of the Louisiana Workforce Commission Workforce Investment Board Director’s Association. 

Stephanie has been a member of Steering Committee for the Southwest Louisiana Workforce Resource Guide, Kiwanis North Lake Charles, Imperial Calcasieu Human Resources Management Association, National Association of Workforce Development Professionals, Louisiana Workforce Commission Field Leadership Advisory Team, Advisory Team for Sowela Community and Technical College – Nursing Department. She previously served as a member of the Louisiana Workforce Commission Local Area Coordinator Association.

EMPLOYMENT WITH CALCASIEUPARISH POLICE JURY

Seemion began working for the Police Jury in 1987.

She has held various positions under the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act (CETA), Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA), Workforce Investment Act (WIA), and the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). She has an extensive background in the areas of workforce care, culture development, and career procurement.

She has worked in the areas of Job Development, Monitoring, Case Management, Program Management, and Local Area Coordination.
