Born and raised in Sulphur, Louisiana, Burton moved to Lake Charles in 2006. He is married to AunJelle LaFleur from Sulphur, and they have two sons named Dillon and Tyler.

Previously Network Operations Coordinator and IT Project Manager for the Calcasieu Parish School System and served as a member of the Emergency Response Team as well as the Standards and Support Committee.
Holds a number of industry certifications such as ITIL, PMP, CGCIO, CISSP, CompTIA as well as Microsoft certificates.
A member of the Louisiana Technology Council and the Southwest Louisiana Technology Council
Achieved PMP certification with the Project Management International organization since 2008. ITIL certified practitioner which is a set of vendor-neutral IT practices providing continuous service improvement including reducing costs and improving efficiency.

Mr. Burton serves on several boards and committees including the Louisiana Digital Government Advisory Board, McNeese State University and SOWELA technical Community College Computer Science Advisory Board, NACo Information Technology Standing Committee, SWLA Economic Development Alliance Technology Council, SWLA Regional AMSC Steering Committee. He also speaks and advises on the topic of Cybersecurity at local and regional events including CIPRNA, CyberNow, Louisiana Digital Government Summit and the Calcasieu Cybersecurity Summit.
