The Office of Juvenile Justice Services understands the value data provides when evaluating service quality. The Special Projects Department was created to address the growing technological needs of the agency and focuses on the following:

• Maintain a central depository for data collection and dissemination for all departments. 
• Provide accurate, timely, and useful data to support the data driven decisions of the management team. 
• Support the JDAI reform efforts and other initiatives. 
• Explore new technological solutions to enhance agency services.

In 2014, the National Center for Juvenile Justice published a white paper on the agencies collection and data usage abilities, entitled "Becoming a Data Driven Juvenile Justice Organization: The Calcasieu Parish Louisiana Experience".
