Juveniles housed in the Juvenile Detention Center are required to participate in an educational program.

Juveniles enrolled in public school are placed in the Homebound Program provided by the Calcasieu Parish School Board. Juveniles not enrolled in school participate in G.E.D. and alternative education programs.

The Calcasieu Parish School Board provides two teachers and an aide for juveniles enrolled in middle and high school grades. These services are coordinated by the CPSB Homebound Program and Special Services. Every effort is made to ensure that minimal scholastic interruption occurs when a juvenile is housed in the center.

The Juvenile Detention Center utilizes a computer lab with software provided by the CPSB for G.E.D. preparation.
