General Information

According to the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH), improperly treated wastewater from malfunctioning units can pose a risk to family health. The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury launched a three-year program in early 2012 to inspect around 33,000 individual home mechanical sewage systems in all unincorporated areas of the Parish. The Parish continues the Sewerage Inspection Program of individual mechanical sewage systems.

  Sewer Inspection #1 6-17-24

The Division of Planning and Development and a team of skilled Code Enforcement Officers spearhead this effort. Residents will be sent reminder notices of the inspection program via mail within four weeks of the Inspectors entering their general area. If an individual mechanical sewage system is malfunctioning, the property owner must take steps to address any issues.

Throughout the inspection process, the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury will assist residents with any questions or issues that may arise. All parties involved in this comprehensive program hope that the public health in Calcasieu Parish will improve for everyone to benefit from in the future.
