Home MenuField Probation
Following adjudication the juvenile offender is placed on Supervised Probation. A Field Probation Officer is the supervision arm of the court, who monitors offenders' compliance and activities with the conditions of court order, or probation order, through regular contacts at office, residence, school, places of work , or in the community.
Common restrictions are that:
- The offender may not commit any more crimes including traffic offenses
- Must attend school
- Must remain drug free
- Must attending his probation visitations
- Any special conditions
Failure to comply with the Conditions of Probation can lead to the placement of the offender in the Juvenile Detention Center, the modification of the conditions of probation to a stricter level of probation, or possible commitment to the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections.
In 2007, the department established an office at the Sheriff's Office in West-Cal Substation. This office is manned by one officer that provides supervision for youths in the West Calcasieu area.
In 2008, the department dedicated one officer to provide sexual offender supervision and management. The officer's caseload is limited and has specific contact requirements. This specialized officer works closely with families and treatment providers to ensure compliance.
